Our story began in grad school at Marymount University in Arlington VA. We met in a class for students who had the same scholarship. Kinnaird developed a massive crush on Shereen, but nothing materialized while we were in school.
5 years later, Kinnaird and Shereen made plans to hang out when he was passing through LA on a cross country trip to move to San Francisco. After a hike and dinner, they walked through LA for hours, talking as if they had already been close friends for years.
What started as a wild and crazy romance turned into a beautiful relationship filled with adventures, goofy jokes, traveling, dogs, and romantic sunsets.
Our friends and families gathered at Kinnaird’s parents house and waited for Kinnaird and Shereen to arrive. Kinnaird told Shereen that we were getting our families together just like last year, but she knew something was up. We came into the house through the side door where you could see a trail of rose petals leading down the hallway to the front of the house.
There were flowers and candles along the side of the walls, a balloon arch above the door, and 30 of our friends and family assembled along the stairs and the next room.
Kinnaird got down on one knee, asked Shereen to marry him, and she said yes! The crowd cheered, and we spent the rest of the night celebrating with our loved ones. It was, so far, the happiest night of our lives. Until, of course, our wedding day.
